Utah Trappers Assocation

The mission of the Utah Trappers Association is to promote our privilege of trapping in an ethical manner. It is the responsibility of us as trappers to do all that we can to help insure that our rich heritage of trapping will be passed on from one generation to the next.

We want this to be a fun web site as well as an informative one. Information will be provided on upcoming events as well as past events. Instruction on fur handling as well as humane sets will be included. The UTA feels it is important to place strong emphasis that the wildlife that we catch should be treated with the utmost respect. This respect begins before we ever set a trap and carries on in the pelt preparation and handling.

If you are not a member of the UTA or another state or national trapping organization, we strongly encourage you to do so. The future of trapping depends on strong state and national trapping organizations.

Events/Activities

The UTA has 4 traditional activities each year:

• Convention/Rendezvous
Held Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday morning each year, the week-end following Labor Day in Sept., at the Juab County Fairgrounds in Nephi. A General Membership Meeting is typically held early Saturday afternoon. The awards banquet is held Saturday evening. The raffle drawing will be held on Sat. night. There are contests, demos, vendors and lots of fun. AND, the price is right: FREE ADMISSION (except for the Awards Banquet. A potluck dish or small fee may be charged).

• Fur Sale
This is typically held on the second week-end in February at the Juab County Fairgrounds in Nephi. A General Membership Meeting is typically held early Saturday afternoon. Here members bring their pelts to be sold at auction. We have a great reputation as one of the best fur sales nationwide. 2014 Fur Sale Details

• Summer Camp Out
Typically held Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday in the later part of June. We vary the locations from year to year. This is a very informal get-together. This activity is for fun and relaxation without all the work associated with the other activities. We usually have a shooting contest, horse shoe tournament and dutch-oven pot luck. A General Membership Meeting is typically held early Saturday afternoon.

• Youth Coyote Hunt
This is a coyote calling contest that involves the kids. One of the requirements of joining the contest is having a kid on your team. This is one of the most popular contests around and has very good support from members and sponsors and is sure to please any and all kids that participate. This is typically held in November and the hunt headquarters is the Juab County Fairgrounds in Nephi. A General Membership Meeting is NOT typically held. Click here for more information.
